Calling Great Moms Everywhere!

A 35-year-old Texas woman has been jailed after police
say she made her 12-year-old daughter drive her to a bar.

Police in Longview say they watched a minivan turn into a
driveway without signaling on Wednesday and bump into a
home at a low speed. They say the car was driven by Jennifer
Lynn Rosenberg's daughter.

Police say the girl told an officer she had just dropped her
mother off at a bar. They say they found Rosenburg at the
bar and that she admitted having her daughter drive her there.

Rosenburg remains in the Gregg County Jail on a $2,500
bond. A jail official declined to say whether she had an attorney.

Beer on Sunday!
Friday 08-08-2008 10:31am CT

A group that plans to lobby lawmakers next year to allow Sunday alcohol sales in Indiana has launched a Web site to collect petition signatures.

The Indianapolis-based coalition, Hoosiers for Beverage Choices, wants cold beer sales and Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages in drug, grocery and convenience stores.

Currently, only package liquor stores can sell cold beer, and stores cannot sell any beer on Sundays.

"For a long time we have not pursued Sunday sales in the Legislature," Grant Monahan, spokesman for the group, said today. "The next session will give us the first opportunity to do that."

"When the legislature hears from their constituents - the buying public - we think that will have a positive impact on the legislation's movement," Monahan said.

They would need a legislator to sponsor a bill.

The coalition includes 23 retailers and three trade associations -- Indiana Retail Council, The Indiana Petroleum Council and The Indiana Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association.

The Web site is www.beveragechoices.com.

Indiana is one of only 15 states that completely prohibit the carry-out sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays. And since 2002, 13 states have repealed laws restricting alcohol sales on Sundays.

Monahan said it is only fair that Indiana retailers be able to sell alcohol on Sundays because restaurants, taverns and numerous sports and community events -- including Colts' games -- can sell alcohol by the drink on that day, the second busiest grocery shopping day of the week.
